Grace Lee Boggs, the renowned philosopher, visionary, and community organizer from Detroit, used to ask, “What time is it on the clock of the world?”

Of course she really wasn’t asking about the date or time or anything like that. Rather, she was asking us to take stock of the moment. To understand deeply how various macro events are coalescing, the ways in which power is evolving, the conditions impacting the survival of our communities, the terrain that is the context for our world making.

In that light, this calendar is perhaps less about keeping track of the passage of time per se and more an invitation to dream and imagine. To use the structure of months and years to dream boldly in response to the monthly prompts and to create practices and rituals to guide us in becoming who we need to be in order for our dreams to be real. We’ve included twelve of our vibrant, hand-made mixed media art works with prompts for dreaming and imagining. Each month represents a new opportunity to imagine and to practice the world we desire. This year we’re also inviting you to align a bit with the cycles of the moon and the sun by including solstice, equinox and new and full moons to guide your rituals. We’ve also gestured towards some days we think should be remembered and celebrated.

We’ve made some important changes this year. In order to be in deeper alignment with our values and to ensure that everyone who orders a calendar can receive one, we’ll no longer be using drop shipping to fulfill orders. Instead we’re accepting pre-orders, and working with a local union shop to print and ship your orders in early January. We think this works a lot better, ensures a better product and makes sure the calendars reach you and your loved ones. It may arrive a little bit late as a result but we won’t be dealing with the wonky fulfillment issues that come with drop shipping.
