A Revolution of Love 

How as artists do we give birth to a revolution of love? How do we use our art to insist on a love ethic? How do we cultivate visions of love that generate a wave of transformation? As artists we have a unique role to play in shifting the mood, in shifting the culture.

Join us during Black Love Month for an immersive dreaming, art-making & writing salon centering Black utopian artists, dreamers, and world builders; guided by the words of our ancestor bell hooks who said, ”“One of the best guides to how to be self-loving is to give ourselves the love we are often dreaming about receiving from others.”…and of our ancestor Martin Luther King Jr. who said, “Power without love is reckless and abusive, and love without power is sentimental and anemic. Power at its best is love implementing the demands of justice, and justice at its best is power correcting everything that stands against love.”…and by the vision and actions of Harriet Tubman who spent ten years on 13 missions to free her people, driven by a commitment to a deep abiding love…and by the collective grief of living in a land where our systems do not love us. 

Together we will cultivate fractals of love that ensure our collective survival, our collective thriving, and our collective liberation. Through grounding rituals, memory work, guided imagining, free writing, collective art making, and movement, we explore love’s revolutionary possibilities across self, our relationships, communities, and societal structures. Together, we reflect on love as a root intentional practice and guiding principle fueling Black liberation. We will consider how deliberate acts of love can echo outward to shape a world that reflects the visions of love we are calling in.
