In May, 2015, we invited Boston's afrofuturists to bring their hearts and minds to “Black to the Future”, Intelligent Mischief’s launch event for the “New Sun Summer”, a radically imaginative collective experience taking place that Summer. From May to August we radically reimagined Black life through local, coast-to-coast events and pop-up participatory spaces.

We were joined by Adrienne Maree Brown of Octavia's Brood: Science Fiction Stories from Social Justice Movements, and Emergent Strategy and other radical Black visionaries on Wednesday, May 26th for a radically imaginative evening.

We began with the “Black Brilliance” conversation that highlighted Black organizers, artists and visionaries from Boston along with adrienne maree brown, the co-editor of Octavia’s Brood discussed how they imagine Black liberation in our cities. After, we heard readings from Octavia’s Brood writer’s adrienne, Morrigan Phillips and Mumia Abu-Jamal. We ended the night with the “Black to the Future” Party where we invited people to dress as themselves in the year of 2050.
